Dear Member,The fine weather continues:
I'm sure you are revelling in the fine weather unless you are glued to the World Cup and Andy Murray's progress at Wimbledon. The early mornings and evenings are often glorious at the moment and photographically worth a walk away from the small screen.
Graham Stirling has been offering his expertise for those interested in joining him when his commitments allow. Another opportunity for interesting subjects is the Haddington Show which is on 3rd July at The Haugh Westfield Farm, Haddington. Finally, Ann Clark is organising a relaxed outing to the harbours of Fife on Saturday July 17th. She intends that members should have lots of freedom to do their own thing but that we meet for picnic lunch at some suitable, hopefully idyllic, spot.
Our exhibition in St Mary's Church, Haddington:
I hope that you had time to visit the Camera Club's display in St Mary's Church, as part of the Haddington Festival. Although there weren't huge crowds visiting the church the exhibition looked good and provided a favourable window on to our activities. If you didn't offer any prints for display then and wish to have some considered for our display in Gullane Library starting next Monday please let me know.
The achievements of members:
Many of you will have seen the article in the East Lothian Courier concerning the production of a book by one of our camera club members David Elder. He has painstakingly toured East Lothian, initially on a bicycle, finding and photographing doocots (dovecots). The result is a well illustrated book which contains many interesting facts. It emphasises that you don't have to be a professional to produce worthwhile work. It just needs a good idea pursued vigorously. Well done, David.
