Dear Member,Haddington Show - members excel:
Camera Club members Jean Inglis and Mike Shakspeare swept up prizes in the photographic competitions at the Haddington Show on Saturday. Mike's 'Hielan coo' was a winner along with Jean's image of 'Lindisfarne castle'. The judging was done by club member Andy Bennetts but he assured us that the adjudication was all done unseen! Jean Inglis was also awarded at least three prizes in the handicraft sections.
Photographic opportunities aplenty:
July and August sees many events taking place which should have photographic opportunities
- Club member Mike Hollingsworth tells me that the Championship Dog Agility Show takes place this Saturday and Sunday (10th and 11th July) at Meadowmill Sports Centre near Prestonpans beginning around 8.30am each day. There will be about 1000 dogs competing in seven or eight rings. Entry and parking are free. Mike points out that the dogs are easily distracted so please do not use your flash guns.
- Ann Clark has organising a relaxed camera club outing to the harbours of Fife on Saturday July 17th. She intends that members should have lots of freedom to do their own thing but that we meet for picnic lunch at 1.00pm at the harbour in Crail. For those who would like transport please meet at the car park opposite St Mary's church in Haddington at 9.30 am.
- The annual air show at East Fortune takes place on Saturday 24th July. Gates open at 10.00 am.
- For a totally exhausting weekend you might want to try the North Berwick Highland games on Saturday 7th August beginning at 10.00 am and the Edinburgh Cavalcade on Sunday 8th!
There is still time this week to visit the Camera Club's display in Gullane Library. The library is open on Thursday 2 - 8pm, Friday 2 - 5pm and Saturday 10am - 1pm.
